MOSCOW: Two men including Lt Gen Igor Kirillov, head of the Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Defence Forces (NBC), have been killed by a suspected improvised explosive device in the Russian capital, according to Russia Today.
An explosion has killed two men near the entrance of a residential building in southeastern Moscow, according to witnesses and law enforcement sources.
The press service of the Russian Investigative Committee has confirmed the deaths but provided no details regarding the possible cause of the incident, which happened on Ryazansky Prospekt.
Investigators are at the scene and medical and bomb experts will be called in to assist with operations in the near future, the press release stated. A search for the perpetrator is underway, it added.
Several videos and photos purporting to show the scene of the incident depict the bodies of two men lying on the sidewalk, covered in debris. Blood can be seen pooling around one of the men.
In other footage, smashed windows and damaged brickwork are visible on the apartment building.
