Sanam Saeed has revealed that she was seven months pregnant while shooting the drama serial Main Manto Nahi Hun.
In an interview, the star shared that she spent three weeks in Lahore for the project, managing to conceal her baby bump through carefully chosen outfits and saree adjustments.
She praised her dress designer for being attentive and helping her cope with the challenging situation.
Main Manto Nahi Hun has been generating buzz for its star-studded cast and powerful storyline by playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar, known for his controversial statements.
Sanam Saeed added a new layer of admiration for the project, explaining that while she had concerns about the KRQ-written dialogues, she felt reassured knowing director Nadeem Baig was leading the project.
She credited Baig for steering the sensitive storyline with the right vision.
The actress also lauded Sajal Aly for striking a balance between professionalism and warmth.
Despite the physical challenges, Sanam said the experience was fulfilling and marked her much-awaited return to television after seven years. “It wasn’t easy, but I managed to pull it off with determination and focus,” she said.
She heaped praise on veteran actors like Saima Noor and Nadeem Baig, calling them pillars of the industry. She also admired Humayun Saeed for his professionalism and energy on set.
“He stays present with his co-stars, contributes to every discussion, and keeps spirits high. Even though we had never worked together before, I always felt we would pair well,” she noted.
Speaking about Sajal Aly, she added: “Sajal uplifts those around her with her friendliness while maintaining complete focus on her craft. It’s always inspiring to work alongside such talent.”
She shed light on the drama’s theme of love between a teacher and student, calling it a sensitive subject that required careful treatment.
“Audience take these portrayals seriously, so it’s important to raise awareness and avoid normalizing problematic dynamics,” she stressed.
Sanam described her comeback to dramas as both exciting and nerve-wracking. “After seven years, I hope to once again become a household name. This project is special to me because it came at a time when I was embracing motherhood for the first time,” she said.
The actress, known for her critically acclaimed performances in Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Cake, and Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam, added that she looks forward to exploring more meaningful roles in the future.
