Rain and storm alert issued across Pakistan

Authorities in Punjab have issued a weather alert as a new system of western winds begins to enter the country, bringing unstable conditions to several regions. According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority, strong winds, dust storms, and thunderstorms are expected between April 16 and April 19, especially in the upper parts of the province.

Weather experts from the Pakistan Meteorological Department report that this incoming weather system will affect cities such as Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Sialkot. Many of these areas may experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning, strong gusts, and, in some locations, hailstorms.

Officials have warned residents to remain cautious. Strong winds could damage weak infrastructure, including electricity poles and roadside billboards. Farmers may also face risks to their crops due to sudden weather changes and possible hail.

In mountainous regions, authorities expect an increased risk of landslides, which could disrupt travel and local activities. Emergency services have been advised to stay alert during this period.

Meanwhile, southern parts of the country will also see changing weather patterns. Rain is likely in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Nawabshah, where thunderstorms and gusty winds may accompany the rainfall.

Authorities encourage the public to follow safety guidelines, avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, and stay updated with official forecasts.
