Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Abid Sher Ali has said that Shehbaz Sharif, Asim Munir and Ishaq Dar should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their role in promoting peace and mediation, it was reported on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference in Faisalabad, the senator said Pakistan had gained unprecedented global respect due to its emerging role as a mediator in international affairs.
He added that the country’s name was now “resonating across the world”.
Abid said that in the past, Pakistan had often been accused of being a haven for terrorism, but the situation had now changed significantly.
He claimed that the country had moved beyond such perceptions and was now playing a constructive role on the global stage.
He further stated that the people of Pakistan were united and “on the same page”, while those who once sought to isolate the country had themselves become isolated.
Referring to political developments, he criticised former prime minister Imran Khan, claiming that global leaders had not engaged with him during his tenure.
He maintained that Pakistan was now actively contributing to mediation efforts and that Islamabad’s international standing had reached a level not seen before.
The senator also congratulated the nation on what he described as a positive shift in Pakistan’s global image and expressed hope that development projects in the country would continue without interruption.
