Not long ago it was common for fans to enjoy a new film by Salman Khan on Eid.
Almost every year his movies released on Eid-ul-Adha and usually performed very well at the box office.Last year after a break of one year his film Sikandar was released on Eid. Before that, in 2023, his film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan also came out.
However this time the focus is not on Eid releases but on a film that has been controversial since it was first announced.
The film was supposed to be released on April 17, 2026 (today).
But according to recent reports its release has been delayed and it is now being re-shot after facing criticism.

A teaser for the film was released in December 2025. In it Salman Khan appeared as an Indian army soldier which attracted a lot of attention.

The film was originally titled Battle of Galwan. Now its name has been changed to Matrabhumi

Salman Khan himself announced the new title last month through an Instagram post. However he did not explain the reason for this change.

Many users in the comments section claimed that the title was changed to please the government.
Some people believe the authorities did not want the film to create more tension between India and China.

It is important to note that after the teaser was released in December 2025, there was strong criticism from Chinese media.
A newspaper linked to the Chinese government Global Times quoted experts saying that the film’s topic and timing were inappropriate.
They argued that it presents a one sided Indian view and could increase tensions between the two countries.
