ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday held a telephone conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, during which both leaders exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomacy.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, the discussion focused on the latest developments in the region, with both sides reiterating their commitment to peaceful resolution of disputes through diplomatic engagement. The conversation reflected ongoing coordination between Pakistan and Turkiye on key geopolitical matters.
During the call, Dar expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended by Turkiye to the Pakistani leadership and delegation during the recent Antalya Diplomacy Forum. He thanked the Turkish government for hosting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and accompanying officials, highlighting the significance of the forum in fostering multilateral dialogue.
The deputy prime minister also conveyed gratitude for Turkiye’s role in organising the third meeting of the R-4 group on the sidelines of the forum. The meeting brought together foreign ministers from Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Pakistan, providing a platform for consultations on regional cooperation and shared challenges.
Officials noted that both leaders acknowledged the value of sustained engagement and coordination at diplomatic forums, particularly at a time of shifting regional dynamics. The emphasis remained on strengthening dialogue channels and promoting peaceful mechanisms to address disputes.
The interaction follows continued high-level exchanges between Islamabad and Ankara, with both countries maintaining close diplomatic ties and cooperation across multiple sectors.
