LAHORE: Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that there is no mistrust between Pakistan and Iran, adding that negotiations with the United States are expected to begin soon.
Addressing a road construction ceremony from Jandiala Road to Bhesan village, he said lawmakers from NA-120 worked hard to secure development funds from the Chief Minister of Punjab.
He noted that due to extreme heat, if development projects are not inaugurated on time, they may not be completed before June. He credited his party leadership, particularly Nawaz Sharif, for supporting development initiatives and said projects will be completed by the end of the year.
Referring to regional tensions, he said Pakistan demanded impartial investigations into the Pahalgam incident, after which India responded militarily, but Pakistan “defeated the enemy,” adding that the country was honored in what he described as a “battle of truth.”
Sadiq praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and the military leadership, saying Pakistan’s diplomatic standing has improved globally.
He claimed Pakistan maintains strong relations with China, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, and said Islamabad has played a unique role in facilitating dialogue between global powers.
He expressed hope that Pakistan would host renewed US-Iran talks soon, adding that efforts for regional peace continue. He also criticized those questioning Pakistan-Iran relations, insisting there is no trust deficit between the two countries.
