ISLAMABAD: Several leading Indian news outlets have acknowledged and praised the Pakistan Navy for assisting an Indian vessel that suffered a major technical breakdown in the Arabian Sea.
According to reports published by NDTV, The Times of India and The Economic Times, the Pakistan Navy stepped in to help after the ship, identified as MV Gautam, lost power while sailing from Oman to India.
Indian media stated that the vessel experienced a serious generator failure on May 3, which left it completely without power and drifting far from shore. The situation was formally reported late on May 4, when the ship was said to be about 262 nautical miles out at sea.
At the request of the Mumbai Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, Pakistani authorities were contacted for urgent assistance. In response, the Pakistan Navy launched a rescue mission and dispatched PMSS Kashmir to the scene. The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency also supported the operation.
Reports said there were seven crew members on board, including six Indian nationals and one Indonesian citizen. The Pakistan Navy provided immediate technical and emergency support, along with food and medical aid, to ensure the safety and well-being of the crew.
Indian outlets described the response as timely and professional, noting that the assistance helped stabilize the vessel and protect those on board. The incident has been widely covered across Indian platforms, highlighting a rare moment of maritime cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
