Categorically rejecting hike in petroleum products’ prices, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Saturday said it was high time people took to streets to vent their anger at the government, which was responsible for their woes.
JUI-F spokesman Aslam Ghauri said that as far as the party was concerned, it stood with the people.
Ghauri said the government was playing the role of the IMF’s recovery agent. “Inflation being witnessed these days is record-breaking as never ever during the last 78 years of the country’s existence, it was as high as it is now,” he said, adding that while on one hand, rulers, who were not true representatives of the people, had a lavish lifestyle due to the loans borrowed from the IMF, poor people, on the other hand, were bearing the brunt of these loans.
The spokesman said what a pity that the people of Pakistan had been made to pay the price for the US-Iran war. “The government is sucking the blood of the people,” he commented.
