A tense situation unfolded in the Haleemzai area of Mohmand district after security forces launched an operation to arrest a man accused of facilitating militant elements.
According to officials, personnel from the police, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and security forces carried out the operation in the Na Safi locality on the basis of intelligence reports. The target of the raid was identified as Ahmad Sher, son of Noor Sher, who was allegedly linked to militant facilitation activities.
During the operation, resistance reportedly emerged from a group of local individuals and PTM workers present in the area. Authorities claimed that the group attempted to stop the arrest and created chaos by gathering at the scene.
Witnesses said the situation quickly turned tense as protesters allegedly used sticks and threw stones towards law enforcement personnel. The confrontation created panic in the locality and forced security officials to call for reinforcement.
Soon after the incident was reported, additional police units arrived at the scene in large numbers. Officials said the crowd was later dispersed and the situation was brought under control after security personnel increased their presence in the area.
Security officials maintained that such incidents would not affect the resolve of law enforcement agencies. They stated that operations against militants and their alleged facilitators would continue without interruption.
Authorities further said that under the National Action Plan and Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, intelligence-based operations are being intensified in different regions to dismantle militant networks and their support systems.
