Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to visit New Delhi later this week to participate in the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on May 14, according to Indian media reports.
The meeting forms part of the preparations for the 18th BRICS Summit, which India will host in September this year. As the current chair of the bloc, India has stepped up diplomatic engagement with member states ahead of the high-level summit.
BRICS now includes 11 core member countries, among them Russia, China, and Iran. The alliance continues to expand its influence in global economic and political affairs, especially as emerging economies seek a stronger voice in international decision-making.
Analysts believe Araghchi’s expected visit carries added importance because of rising tensions across the region and increasing diplomatic activity among major powers. His participation may also provide an opportunity for discussions on regional stability, economic cooperation, and broader geopolitical developments.
