Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday met President Asif Ali Zardari at the Presidency, where they discussed the overall situation of the country, matters related to Afghanistan and the changing regional situation.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Senator Saleem Mandviwala and Dr Asim Hussain.
During the meeting, the participants paid tribute to the martyrs of the Marka-e-Haq and appreciated the professional capabilities of the armed forces of Pakistan. The meeting also reiterated an unwavering commitment to national defence.
President Asif Ali Zardari said that despite the difficult geographical and regional situation, tensions in the Middle East and disruption of supply chains, maximum relief should be provided to the people.
The president directed that possible measures be taken to reduce inflationary pressures, ensure the availability of essential commodities and provide relief to the common man.
