NAB freezes Malik Riaz’s ‘Ali Villa’, thousands of acres of Bahria Town Karachi land in major crackdown

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has launched a major operation against Bahria Town Karachi, freezing a luxury mansion linked to property tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain along with thousands of acres of land in different precincts of the housing project.

According to NAB officials, the anti-corruption watchdog has frozen a 67-acre property known as “Ali Villa,” allegedly owned by Malik Riaz. The estate, constructed in Bahria Hills within Bahria Town Karachi, reportedly includes a helipad and a mini zoo.

In addition to the mansion, NAB has frozen 1,338 acres of land situated in Bahria Greens and several other precincts of Bahria Town Karachi. The affected areas include Precincts 33, 34, 38, 39, 40, 42 and 61.

Officials said the frozen properties have been declared government land belonging to the Sindh government, while authorities have been directed to ensure that no transfer or sale of the land takes place.

NAB has also frozen 3,150 acres associated with Bahria Town 2, alleging that forest department land was fraudulently acquired and incorporated into the project.

According to the bureau, the land in question was allegedly purchased through fraudulent means. A separate order in this regard was issued by the Director General of NAB Karachi.

Relevant government agencies and authorities have been instructed to prevent the transfer of the properties to any third party, while Bahria Town Karachi has been barred from selling, transferring or creating any further rights over the frozen land.

Sources said NAB reference number 1/2025 has already been filed in the Accountability Court Karachi regarding the case.

The reference reportedly contains allegations of embezzlement and illegal occupation of 17,672 acres of government land, whose estimated value has been assessed at around Rs708 billion.

The investigation also includes allegations of collusion by certain officials of the Sindh government in facilitating the alleged illegal acquisition and development of land near the M-9 Motorway.

According to investigators, new revelations have emerged during the ongoing NAB probe into Bahria Town Karachi, further expanding the scope of the inquiry into alleged land irregularities and misuse of public property.
