ISLAMABAD: A significant development emerged in the Islamabad High Court regarding the appeals in the £190 million case, where the court granted final time to the lawyers of the party founder and Bushra Bibi to present their arguments.
Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif issued a written order in the case, directing that the arguments must be completed by the next hearing scheduled for May 20.
According to the court order, lawyer Salman Safdar had filed a request to adjourn the hearing in order to obtain instructions from the party founder and Bushra Bibi. However, the National Accountability Bureau opposed the request for adjournment.
The court noted that during the previous hearing, all parties were instructed to ensure their presence and complete arguments on the appeals, but instead of presenting arguments, a request for adjournment was submitted on weak grounds.
The order further stated that since the main appeals were filed by Salman Safdar himself, the court was granting one last and final opportunity due to the sensitivity and importance of the case.
The court directed the counsel to complete all necessary preparations and ensure that detailed arguments are presented at the next hearing on May 20.
