LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has scheduled a series of key meetings in the coming days to discuss the future of the national cricket team and its management, with major decisions and announcements expected regarding the team’s administrative structure.
According to sources, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will chair important meetings on Friday and Saturday, during which a comprehensive review of Pakistan cricket’s management framework will be conducted.
While the PCB has not officially disclosed the agenda, media reports suggest that discussions will focus on the Test team captaincy, coaching staff, and potential changes to the overall cricket structure.
Reports indicate that the PCB is considering giving former Pakistan captains prominent roles in the new management setup.
Former captain Younis Khan is reportedly among the leading candidates for the position of head coach of the national Test team. There are also reports that he could be included in the national selection committee, where he would play a significant role in squad building and player selection.
Former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is also being considered for a key role within the PCB. He may be appointed Director of International Cricket, while his inclusion in the selection panel is also under consideration.
Media reports further suggest that current Test captain Shan Masood and head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed could be relieved of their responsibilities. Salman Ali Agha is being viewed as a strong candidate to replace Shan Masood as captain of the Test side.
Reports also indicate that even if Sarfaraz Ahmed is removed from the head coach position, he is likely to remain associated with Pakistan cricket and could potentially take up a role with Pakistan Shaheens in the future.
