‘Maybe I should have died’, Momina Iqbal breaks down over abuse

Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal has shared a series of deeply emotional statements on social media, opening up about the devastating impact of prolonged harassment, defamation, and online abuse.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, the actress revealed that she has chosen to publicly expose individuals she claims have been involved in spreading hate, harassment, and harmful messages against her.

In one note, Momina explained that many people had advised her not to tag or identify those responsible. However, she said her decision was motivated by a desire to protect other women from experiencing similar treatment.

“Everyone tells me not to mention or expose these people, but what I have endured for years, I do not want another woman to go through. I am sharing their faces so women can remain cautious around such individuals. This reflects the filth in their mindset. If they do not harm someone today, they may harm someone tomorrow,” she wrote.

The actress further stressed that she has never tolerated such behaviour and has no intention of remaining silent in the future.

In another emotional post, Momina revealed the immense psychological burden she has been carrying while fighting what she described as false accusations, fabricated complaints, and continuous character assassination.

Reflecting on the toll the ordeal has taken on her mental health, she admitted that there were moments when she felt completely overwhelmed.

“I raised my voice because I was exhausted. Even then, I was forced into it because no other option was left. Every day is now spent proving the truth. Sometimes I think it would have been better if I had committed suicide. If not a life of dignity, at least I would have found peace in death,” she wrote.

Momina also expressed frustration over the legal process, alleging that individuals identified in an NCCIA case were granted bail despite findings against them. She claimed that this has allowed further harassment to continue unchecked.

The actress’s comments came in response to a social media post describing her as a “courageous example.” While acknowledging the support she has received, Momina rejected the label, explaining that her public stance was born out of desperation rather than bravery.

It is worthy to mention that Momina Iqbal has previously pursued legal action through the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) and other authorities, alleging that she and her family were subjected to severe online harassment, threats, and character attacks. Her latest statements offer a sobering glimpse into the personal and emotional cost such battles can carry, even for public figures.
