Noah Dastgir Butt wins double gold at World Strongman Games

Pakistan’s renowned strength athlete Noah Dastgir Butt has secured two gold medals at the World Strongman Games held in Uzbekistan, earning another significant international sporting honour for the country.

The Commonwealth Games gold medallist from Gujranwala, widely known as the “city of wrestlers,” delivered an outstanding performance at the competition, further strengthening his reputation on the global strongman circuit.

Butt, who has previously represented Pakistan with distinction in weightlifting and powerlifting, added to his growing list of achievements with this latest success. His performance at the event brought further recognition to Pakistan in international strength sports.

Born on 3 February 1998 in Gujranwala, Noah Dastgir Butt comes from a well-known weightlifting family of Kashmiri origin. He is coached by his father, Ghulam Dastgir Butt, who himself competed internationally in weightlifting. His brother, Hanzala Dastgir Butt, has also represented Pakistan in the sport, including participation in the Commonwealth Games.

Noah Butt rose to prominence when he won Pakistan’s first gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the men’s over 109 kilogram category, setting new Games records in both the snatch and clean and jerk events.

He has also previously won medals at earlier Commonwealth competitions and continued to build on his success after recovering from a serious injury that temporarily halted his career progress.

His recent victories at the World Strongman Games further highlight his continued dominance and dedication to strength sports, reinforcing his status as one of Pakistan’s leading international athletes.
