Accepting the petitions filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday ordered the immediate transfer of corruption references of billions of rupees back to accountability courts (ACs), it was reported.
The high court also declared the decisions given by ACs in these references null and void.
The court ruled that the references filed by the NAB would be deemed to be pending in the concerned ACs.
It ordered that the cases sent to anti-corruption and other courts should immediately be transferred back to ACs, which should expedite their hearing as per law.
Resultantly, references involving Iqbal Z. Ahmad, Ali Raza, Iftikhar Qaimkhani, Ahmad Hayat and others would now again be heard by accountability courts.
Similarly, cases of LPG quota, National Bank, KPT and illegal transfer of government land in Karachi would all be heard in ACs.
In its remarks, the bench observed that ACs, while transferring these cases to anti-corruption and other courts, did not seek the NAB’s consent, which was binding on them.
The SHC, however, rejected the bureau’s petition against the former Sindh IGP, Ghulam Haider Jamali, and ordered the transfer of the reference against him to the concerned department.
