ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has forecast a fresh spell of rain across several parts of the country from July 7 to 10, with showers expected in Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, the Potohar region and northeastern Punjab.
According to the NDMA, the weather system is expected to enter the northern parts of Pakistan on Monday, bringing rain accompanied by thunder and lightning to the affected regions during the four-day period.
Rain is also likely in areas along the Indus River, Jhelum River, Chenab River, Ravi River and Sutlej River. The authority said rainfall may cause a slight increase in river flows, while water inflows into the Tarbela Dam and Mangla Dam are also expected to rise.
The NDMA said there is currently no risk of large-scale river flooding due to the forecast rainfall. However, water levels in hill torrents and small seasonal streams may increase.
The authority also warned that low-lying urban areas could experience waterlogging, while the risk of landslides remains in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir during the forecast period.
