KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has criticized the country’s education system, claiming that none of Karachi’s 3,500 schools provide quality education and warning that millions of children remain deprived of learning opportunities.
Speaking at the Bano Qabil Convocation in Karachi, he described the event as the largest graduation ceremony in Pakistan’s history. He accused the country’s leadership of restricting access to education, saying young people are struggling to secure government jobs while industries continue to leave the country.
Highlighting the success of the Bano Qabil initiative, Hafiz Naeem said the program began in Karachi and has now expanded to major cities across Pakistan, with around 1.6 million young people registered. He said the growing interest in information technology has inspired hope and confidence among the country’s youth.
He also announced plans to establish an IT university in the near future, saying the dream is now close to becoming a reality. Questioning the state’s education priorities, Hafiz Naeem asked why nearly 11.7 million children across Pakistan are still out of school and called for urgent action to address the crisis.
