Thousands of government employees are exercising their voting rights in the first phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election 2026. This early polling phase allows public sector workers from eight districts to cast their ballots ahead of the main polling day.
Elections for 26 out of the 33 seats in the Legislative Assembly of Azad Kashmir are scheduled to take place on July 27. The offices of the District Returning Officers have been designated as polling stations to accommodate the 30,000 civil servants casting votes for their respective home constituencies. To ensure the integrity of the process, these early votes will be safely stored and integrated into the final count alongside the general election results.
Strict security protocols have been established across all designated polling stations, with Frontier Constabulary personnel deployed alongside local police units to maintain order.
A total of 3,365,839 registered voters are eligible to participate in the upcoming legislative elections on July 27. The registered voting demographic comprises 1,753,933 male voters and 1,611,906 female voters.
In preparation for the upcoming electoral process, Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Kashmir Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal conducted formal inspections of multiple polling facilities. He released an official statement dismissing public speculation regarding any changes to the electoral timeline, reaffirming that all phases of the election will proceed precisely as planned.
