ISLAMABAD: On the instructions of President Asif Ali Zardari, a Pakistani delegation visited the Embassy of Nepal in Islamabad to express condolences over the loss of life and destruction caused by last week’s devastating floods.
Former Senate Chairman Syed Nayyar Bokhari and President’s Spokesperson Murtaza Solangi visited the Nepalese embassy and conveyed the sympathies of the Pakistani leadership and people to the government and people of Nepal.
The floods followed landslides and the bursting of a glacier along the China-Nepal border, causing widespread devastation and loss.
During their visit, Bokhari and Solangi met Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan Rita Dhital. They expressed solidarity with Nepal and offered condolences to the families affected by the disaster.
The two Pakistani representatives conveyed their support for the people of Nepal during what they described as a difficult and tragic period.
Ambassador Rita Dhital thanked the Pakistani delegation for visiting the embassy and appreciated the solidarity shown by Pakistan.
She also expressed gratitude for the support and sympathy extended by the government and people of Pakistan following the natural disaster.
Bokhari and Solangi later recorded messages of condolence and solidarity in the embassy’s Visitors’ Book.
Their visit reflected Pakistan’s support for Nepal in the aftermath of the devastating floods and highlighted the friendly relations between the two countries.
The expression of solidarity came as Nepal continued to deal with the consequences of the severe flooding, landslides and glacier-related disaster along its northern border.
