ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Thursday said the federal government would provide Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with all necessary resources to combat terrorism, urging political forces in the province to unite behind security forces to restore lasting peace.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament House in Islamabad, Chaudhry said the federal government was committed to supporting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in its fight against terrorism and would ensure the provision of resources required to address security challenges.
He called on all political parties and leaders in the province to stand united in support of security forces, stressing that political unity was essential to effectively combating terrorism.
Chaudhry expressed confidence in the capabilities of Pakistan’s security forces, saying they possessed the strength and professional capacity to defeat terrorists within days.
However, he questioned how effective counterterrorism operations could be conducted when political figures showed what he described as cowardice and the political leadership maintained a soft stance toward terrorists.
The minister said political hesitation and reluctance to take a firm position against terrorism raised serious questions about efforts to restore peace in the province.
He said the federal government’s sole objective was to establish peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and ensure that the province could overcome its security challenges.
Chaudhry said the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had implications for the entire country, stressing that national peace and economic stability were closely linked to conditions in the province.
He said that neither lasting peace nor economic stability could be achieved in Pakistan without restoring security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The minister reiterated his call for political forces in the province to support security institutions and work together toward the common objective of eliminating terrorism and restoring peace.
