PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has re-established contact with the federal government for the first time since the imposition of governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to party sources.
Sources within the party said former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur had contacted the federal government on the instructions of the PTI parliamentary party.
Gandapur was reportedly authorised to hold negotiations during a parliamentary party meeting held on October 20.
Sources said contact was made with two key federal ministers who had been part of the government’s negotiating team before the imposition of Governor’s Rule.
The sources said the restoration of Sohail Afridi’s government and the release of arrested party workers were the PTI’s top priorities.
Political contacts between the PTI and the federal government had reportedly broken down following the imposition of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on October 11.
