TEHRAN: A senior Iranian Foreign Ministry official said Saturday that ties between Tehran and Riyadh will be in the interest of the entire region, according to Press TV.
Drawing on Iran’s intention to cooperate expansively with all its neighbors, Alireza Enayati, assistant to Iran’s foreign minister and director general for the Gulf affairs of the Foreign Ministry, said that the Iranian and Saudi delegations recently held three rounds of talks in the Iraqi capital Baghdad and there is a plan to continue the talks.
“If bilateral bonds between Iran and Saudi Arabia enter a new phase, it will definitely pave the way for regional talks and cooperation and lead to the improvement of the position of both states in the region,” Enayati was quoted as saying.
He noted that any problem and misunderstanding among regional states can be solved through dialogue as it is the best and viable way to secure interests.
As with the past, Iran extends its hand of friendship towards all countries in the region, he said.
