LPG prices increase after Pak-Iran border closure

The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Quetta has surged by Rs120 per kilogram following the closure of the Pak-Iran border.

LPG, which was previously being sold at Rs280 per kg, is now priced between Rs360 and Rs400 per kg in the city. Residents say the sudden price hike has added to their financial burden.

LPG dealers attributed the increase to a shortage in supply triggered by the border shutdown. “Due to the closure of the Pak-Iran border, LPG supplies have been severely disrupted, which is directly affecting market prices,” said a local LPG distributor.

The effects of the border closure are not limited to Quetta alone. Reports from other districts in Balochistan suggest that the prices of LPG and other essential goods have also risen, further compounding difficulties for the public.

Local traders and transporters have voiced frustration over the situation, saying that continued disruptions in cross-border trade are impacting not only fuel availability but also the overall economy of the region.
