The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has extended the deadline given to Pakistan for the submission of Governance and Corruption Diagnostic Assessment Report, urging it to submit the report before the next review talks, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Sources told the 24News TV channel that technical issues had been detected in the report.
Earlier, the deadline had been set at September 30, 2025, which the country had failed to meet.
Sources informed that Pakistan had assured the IMF that the report would be submitted soon.
The Fund has already appreciated the steps taken by Pakistan for the diagnostic analysis of corruption and governance.
The money-lending organization has praised the government of Pakistan’s sincere efforts in this regard and has expressed the hope that it will continue to cooperate with Pakistan.
A governance and corruption diagnostic assessment is an in-depth analysis of a country’s or sector’s vulnerabilities to corruption and weaknesses in governance.
It identifies root causes, assesses the cost of corruption, and provides recommendations for reforms to strengthen integrity and improve institutional performance.
The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank are key institutions that conduct these assessments, often at a government’s request, to improve transparency, accountability, and effectiveness.
