New labour rates have been enforced in Punjab for July to December 2026, it was reported on Tuesday.
According to new labour rates, daily wage of unskilled labour has been fixed at Rs1,538 while wage of skilled labour including masons, electricians, plumbers and welders has been fixed at Rs2,000 per day.
Further, wage of gardener, chain men and other semi-skilled workers has been fixed at Rs1,560 per day.
Moreover, wage of labourers working on a monthly basis has been fixed at Rs40,000 per month.
The new labour rates will be applicable to government development projects and construction estimates.
The new rates will change the estimates of development projects and contracts.
The Finance Department has issued a notification on the wages of labourers for the next 6 months.
