Rawalpindi ATC orders to unfreeze Shaukat Khanum, Namal University bank accounts

RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi on Monday ordered the unfreezing of the bank accounts belonging to the Shaukat Khanum Hospital and Namal University.

The court issued the order while hearing a case against Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, regarding the protest on November 26.

The hearing was presided over by Judge Amjad Ali Shah, during which lawyers representing Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital appeared in court.

Prosecutor Zaheer Shah informed the court that Aleema Khan’s personal bank accounts had been frozen following a request sent to the State Bank with her CNIC number.

He stated that the central bank had closed all accounts associated with her CNIC. However, he clarified that no written request had been made to freeze Shaukat Khanum’s accounts. The prosecution raised no objections to the de-freezing of Shaukat Khanum and Namal University’s accounts.

After hearing arguments from both parties, the court ordered the de-freezing the accounts belonging to Shaukat Khanum and NUML.

It is recalled that the anti-terrorism court had previously ordered the freezing of Aleema Khan’s bank accounts and assets in connection with the November 26 protest case.
