Vawda warns KP CM against ‘confrontation’, says governor’s rule could follow

Senator Faisal Vawda has cautioned the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister to focus on governance and avoid any confrontation with state institutions, warning that any misconduct or disruptive behaviour could pave the way for the imposition of governor’s rule in the province.

Speaking to the media outside Parliament House on Monday, Vawda said the army chief was fully in command of the military and that a pending notification, without specifying its nature, could be issued “today, tomorrow or the day after.”

He reiterated that the Civil Defence Force (CDF) had no political role, adding that recent statements by PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and his presence in Parliament indicated his alignment with the government.

Vawda advised the KP chief minister to “run his government properly,” stressing that after the Islamabad High Court’s recent order, “even an inch of wrongdoing could lead to his disqualification.”

He added that the government did not desire governor’s rule in the province but warned that if “bullying, mischief or hooliganism” continued, no option would be left.

He further said that any issues faced by PTI or its leadership could be resolved by approaching President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

“Every issue’s key lies with President Zardari,” he remarked.

Vawda said that the former chairman’s sisters were “respectable” to him. He also noted that many political figures had given interviews recently, saying, “We, too, have given interviews.”

Responding to a question about whether action could be taken against former army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa or former chief justice Saqib Nisar, Vawda said, “What has not happened in Pakistan in 75 years will not happen in the next 75 years either.”

Vawda said he had earlier stated that if PTI leadership attempted to exert pressure on November 26, they would “face consequences,” adding that the state would not tolerate “bullying.”

The senator added that the government preferred to keep Faisal Karim Kundi as Governor of KP, noting that any alternative name “would not be politically viable.”

He reiterated that his party had no objection to Kundi continuing in the office.

Commenting on PTI founder Imran Khan, Vawda said that if anyone still wished to meet him, “they can keep hitting their head against the wall, the wall will not move, nor will anything be achieved.”

He urged PTI leaders to adopt a political approach and engage directly with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari.
