Punjab CM Maryam launches honorary cards for Imam Masjids

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched honorary cards for Imams of mosques (prayer leaders).

Chairing an important meeting in Lahore on Wednesday, Maryam Nawaz has set a deadline for issuance of honorary cards of February 2026.

Maryam Nawaz ordered payment from January 1 and pay orders will be given for the first time.

Payment will be made through ‘Chief Minister Punjab Honorary Card’ for Imams of mosques from February 1.

The Chief Minister directed that the registration process of Imams should continue continuously.

The meeting was told that registration forms of 62994 Imams received and verification process underway across Punjab.

Honourary card of Imams of mosques involved in moral or financial crimes or working against the country and nation will be stopped.

Masjid Management Committees and Tehsil Management Committees also established across the province.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed Assistant Commissioners to invite Imams every month for meetings.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed to carry on continuous combing operation in sensitive areas.

The meeting also decided to enact legislation for strict action against those who damage Safe City cameras and government property.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed necessary steps for digital surveillance of Fourth Schedule criminals.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also ordered to continue operations against illegally residing Afghans.
