Govt constitutes tax admin committee

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a six-member tax administration committee headed by Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, it was reported on Tuesday.

Minister of State for Revenue Bilal Azhar Kiyani, Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Rashid Mehmood Langrial, Secretary Revenue, Additional Auditor General of Pakistan, and CEO PRAL will be its members

The Additional Secretary, Revenue, and Member Federal Board of Revenue will perform their duties as secretary. Revenue Division will extend secretarial support to the committee.

The committee will submit its report to the Prime Minister every quarter. The formation of the committee is part of the Prime Minister’s economic reforms.

Earlier on January 5, 2026, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a 15-member committee, headed by the federal finance minister, to improve economic governance and strengthen oversight mechanisms across key sectors, following concerns raised by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) over weaknesses in Pakistan’s institutional framework.

Members of the committee include the finance secretary, law secretary, planning secretary, Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) secretary, information technology secretary, establishment division secretary, secretary of the Law and Justice Commission, secretary of the Board of Investment, chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, chairman of the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP), managing director of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), director general of the Tax Policy Office, and the additional auditor general.
