Pakistan launches digital Haj system for 2027

The Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Information Technology have signed a memorandum of understanding to introduce a fully digital Haj management system. The initiative aims to bring transparency, efficiency, and convenience to the pilgrimage process.

The MoU was signed on February 24 in Islamabad. The ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Religious Affairs Secretary Dr Sajid Mahmood Chauhan, and IT Secretary Zarrar Hasham Khan. Haj Joint Secretary Muhammad Bakhsh Sangi and National IT Board Director General Dr Khalid Rafiq formally signed the agreement.

The digital system will cover the entire Haj process. This includes submission of applications, verification, travel coordination, and the return of pilgrims to Pakistan. Officials say the system will reduce delays and minimize human errors. It will also ensure that processes are transparent and in line with international standards.

Minister Yousaf said the project is part of the prime minister’s directives. He added that the goal is to create a modern, integrated, and user-friendly system. It will allow pilgrims to complete procedures without unnecessary complications.

Minister Khawaja said the new platform will include an online portal and an improved Pak Haj mobile application. Pilgrims will receive real-time updates, guidance, and assistance. The system will also help coordinate among different agencies involved in Haj operations.

Officials stated that the digital transformation will make the entire process faster and more efficient. It will strengthen transparency and provide modern facilities for Pakistani pilgrims. The government hopes the system will serve as a model for future Haj operations.
