FIA foils human trafficking attempt, 33 women rescued in Karachi

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has successfully foiled a major human trafficking attempt and rescued 33 women who were allegedly being prepared for illegal transfer abroad. During the operation, four suspects, including a woman, were arrested for their involvement in the trafficking network.

According to officials, the FIA’s Anti-Human Trafficking Circle conducted targeted raids at two hotels located near the passport office in the Saddar area of Karachi. Acting on intelligence reports, the team moved swiftly and took 33 women into protective custody. Several agents and facilitators present at the location were also detained for questioning.

Authorities stated that 29 passports, along with other important documents, were recovered from the suspects. Preliminary investigations revealed that the women were being lured and prepared for travel to the United Arab Emirates under the guise of visit visas. Officials believe the victims were misled with false promises of jobs and better opportunities abroad.

The FIA further disclosed that the trafficking network allegedly intended to exploit these women for prostitution and other forms of sexual abuse once they reached their destination. Investigators suspect that this operation is part of a larger, organized network involved in human trafficking across borders.

Three separate cases have been registered against the arrested individuals under the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act 2018. Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and efforts are being made to trace additional suspects and uncover the full scope of the network.

Officials also highlighted that such operations are part of FIA’s broader crackdown on human trafficking and illegal migration. They emphasized that protecting vulnerable individuals, especially women, remains a top priority.

The FIA reiterated its commitment to taking strict and decisive action against those involved in human trafficking. It also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, adding that collective efforts are essential to eliminate such crimes from society.
