PML-N loyalists to get party tickets for local govt elections

The executive committee of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to award tickets for the upcoming local bodies’ elections on merit and to the party stalwarts and seniors, it was reported on Saturday.

The committee has decided that those leaders and workers who are loyal to the party or have been associated with it for a long time will not be overlooked while awarding tickets.

In this connection, the committee has decided to compile lists of likely candidates at the UC level, which will be sent to the party head.

A decision has also been taken to nominate nine persons from a single UC as the PML-N candidates for the seat of councilor.

Former local bodies office-bearers have also been directed to remain proactive.

Besides that, a local body cell has been set up at the PML-N’s Lahore office.

Moreover, a legal committee has also been constituted which will look into the issues of demarcations.

Senior PML-N leader Tanveer Zia Butt has been appointed as its convener, while Rafaqat Dogar, Nasir Chohan, Riaz Akhtar, Shahid Mehmood, Malik Rizwan and Malik Shahid Mehmood are its members.
