The federal government has decided to appoint economic ministers in major world capitals as part of efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s economic diplomacy and international financial engagement.
According to official sources, economic ministers will be posted in key cities including Washington, D.C., London, Beijing and Riyadh.
The Ministry of Finance has initiated the formal process for these appointments and directed all ministries and divisions to submit nominations by April 30.
In a related move, the Federal Board of Revenue has invited applications from officers of Pakistan Customs. Grade 20 and 21 officers have been instructed to submit their CVs for consideration.
Officials said that a written examination will be conducted for shortlisted candidates, with testing to be carried out by leading institutions including Institute of Business Administration and Lahore University of Management Sciences. Candidates who qualify the written test will be called for interviews.
Authorities emphasized that applicants must have substantial experience in both domestic and international economic affairs to be considered for these strategic roles.
The initiative is being seen as a step towards enhancing Pakistan’s economic representation abroad and improving coordination on trade, investment, and financial matters with key global partners.
