Govt extends deployment of security forces in GB by 14 June 2026

Ahead of general elections, the federal government has extended the deployment of security forces in Gilgit Baltistan by 14 June 2026.

Sources said the federal cabinet approved the deployment of the Army, Rangers, GB scouts, and FC personnel through a circulation ceremony. “The interior ministry had sent the summary for extension,” the sources added.

The GB government, sources said, had requested an extension in deployment of internal security. “The Army’s deployment has been extended till June 14, 2026,” sources added.

The federal government deployed the army under Article 245 of the Constitution. The Army would be deployed for security including that of CPEC projects, and Kakakoram Highway.
