Dar stresses transparency and reforms for sustainable economic growth

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that transparency, accountability, reforms, and strong financial governance are essential for sustainable economic growth in Pakistan. He made these remarks while addressing a conference of regional accountants and finance professionals in Lahore on Saturday.

He said that long-term economic stability cannot be achieved without transparent systems and effective oversight. According to him, accountability plays a key role in building investor confidence and strengthening economic resilience.

Dar congratulated Pakistan’s Institute of Cost and Management Accountants on completing 75 years of service. He praised its contribution to the development of the accounting and finance profession in the country. He said such institutions are important for institutional strengthening and professional growth.

He also highlighted the increasing role of digital technology in the financial sector. He said accountants and financial experts must adapt to modern tools and global trends. This, he said, is necessary to improve efficiency and meet international standards.

The deputy prime minister said Pakistan has significant economic potential. He said ongoing reforms, fiscal discipline, and improved governance are gradually supporting economic stability. He added that better regional connectivity is also helping improve long-term prospects.

Dar also spoke about Pakistan’s role in promoting regional cooperation. He said dialogue, peace, and economic collaboration in South Asia are important for shared development. He emphasized the importance of platforms like regional accounting forums in strengthening cooperation.

He further said that youth empowerment and institutional reforms remain key priorities of the government. He stated that these measures are aimed at improving efficiency and ensuring sustainable development.
