Lahore police on Saturday claimed to have arrested three men accused of gang-raping two girls after allegedly luring them on the pretext of arranging a rickshaw.
According to the spokesperson for Lahore’s DIG (Operations), the arrests were made by the police in the city’s Sundar area after investigators traced what authorities described as a “blind case” with no initial leads.
The suspects were identified as Ghulam Mohiuddin alias Ali, Nasir alias Mandi and Ibrahim alias Malangi.
Police said a case has been registered against them on the complaint of the victims’ father at the Sundar police station.
Initial investigations indicated that the accused allegedly took the girls with them under the false promise of helping arrange a rickshaw.
Authorities said the suspects later subjected the girls to sexual assault before abandoning them on a roadside and fleeing the scene.
The spokesperson said the suspects went into hiding after the incident and initially left behind no clues.
However, police traced them using modern investigative techniques and intelligence-based operations.
The three men were arrested during raids conducted in different areas, police added.
