NA passes resolution praising armed forces for 2025 conflict response

The National Assembly has unanimously approved a resolution praising Pakistan’s armed forces for their response during last year’s military confrontation with India.

The resolution was presented in the House by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar. It paid tribute to the armed forces and described their performance as strong and decisive.

Lawmakers said Pakistan responded firmly to what was described as unprovoked aggression during the 2025 escalation. They referred to the conflict period as “Marka-e-Haq”.

The House noted that the situation began after the Pahalgam incident and ended following a ceasefire agreement on May 10, 2025.

The resolution stated that Pakistan launched Operation Bunyanum Marsoos in response. It said the operation reflected coordinated action between civilian leadership and the armed forces.

Members of the National Assembly praised the Pakistan Air Force for its operational effectiveness. They said it achieved air superiority and successfully defended national airspace.

The resolution also claimed that key enemy military installations were targeted during the conflict. It highlighted strikes on strategic infrastructure and missile-related facilities.

The Pakistan Navy was also acknowledged for its defensive preparedness and rapid response at sea. Lawmakers said naval forces helped prevent hostile movements in maritime areas.

Tributes were paid to soldiers, pilots, sailors, and other personnel who lost their lives during the conflict. Their sacrifices were described as central to national defence.

Cyber defence teams were also recognised for countering digital attacks during the escalation period. Lawmakers said they played an important role in protecting national systems.

The resolution stated that all political parties supported the armed forces during the crisis. It stressed national unity in the face of external pressure.

It also warned that Pakistan remains committed to peace but will respond strongly to any violation of sovereignty or territorial integrity.

National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said the conflict changed international perceptions and strengthened Pakistan’s position globally.

He said India’s narrative had been challenged on the world stage. He also reiterated Pakistan’s call for peaceful resolution of disputes, especially Kashmir.

Sadiq urged the international community to take notice of regional tensions. He said lasting peace depends on resolving long-standing issues.

He also criticised attempts to suspend water-sharing arrangements, calling such moves unilateral and unacceptable.

During the session, journalists staged a walkout over unpaid salaries and layoffs in media organisations.

Later, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar met journalists and assured them that their concerns would be addressed.

He said government advertisements to certain channels had been paused until issues regarding employee payments were resolved.

After assurances from the government, journalists ended their protest and returned to the press gallery.
