Two senior PML-N leaders met with former prime minister and the party President Nawaz Sharif at Jati Umrah on Saturday.
Sources told the 24News TV channel that the country’s as well as the regional situation, the US-Iran war and Pakistan’s mediatory efforts came under discussion at Nawaz’s meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal.
Dar, on the occasion, said that the role being played by Pakistan in bringing about an end to the war and restoring peace in the Gulf was historical.
He said that negotiations and diplomatic efforts were necessary to bring about reconciliation between the US and Iran.
Ahsan Iqbal said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was working 24/7 to further strengthen the country’s economy. “Basis has been laid for making the country’s economy worth $1 trillion,” he said, adding that if the country’s exports increased, Pakistan would become one of the world’s rapidly growing economies by 2035.
