ISLAMABAD: Barrister Salman Safdar, legal counsel for former prime minister Imran Khan, has reportedly developed an eye-related medical condition, prompting a request for relief from the immediate pursuit of ongoing appeal proceedings.
The matter was raised before the court through Salman Akram Raja advocate, who informed the bench that Safdar is facing health complications linked to an eye condition and requires medical examination abroad.
According to the request presented, Salman Safdar expressed his inability to continue urgent follow-up on appeals due to his current health situation. The plea comes at a significant moment as legal proceedings linked to Imran Khan continue to draw attention amid a series of court battles and developments surrounding the former premier.
During proceedings, Salman Akram Raja sought additional time in relation to an appeal challenging the refusal to hear applications seeking suspension of Imran Khan’s sentence.
The latest development has also brought renewed focus to recent claims surrounding the health and wellbeing of Imran Khan himself. Earlier, Salman Akram Raja, who also serves as Secretary General of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), alleged that serious concerns exist regarding the former prime minister’s condition.
Raja had previously claimed that Imran Khan had been subjected to mistreatment and alleged that one of his eyes had been affected. He also raised concerns over the health of Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, saying both faced serious risks.
He further alleged that court decisions regarding meetings with the PTI founder were not being implemented, adding another layer to the ongoing legal and political tensions surrounding the former ruling party and its leadership.
