Despite the call given by the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), a proscribed organization, for a strike and demonstrations, routine life was witnessed in Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Tuesday as educational institutions and businesses remained open.
Shops and markets remained open while traffic on the roads was as usual.
The residents of the city were of the view that strikes and demonstrations were not a solution to any issue since it was the common man, who, at the end of the day, was at the receiving end.
They opined that the best way to resolve the issues which the committee had raised was to engage in a dialogue rather than confronting the authorities since it would create unrest.
The citizens said that the JAAC should not insist on resistance and come to the negotiating table so that the government could look into its demands.
