Judicial Commission receives 16 nominations for Sindh High Court vacancies

To fill the six vacant judges’ positions in the Sindh High Court (SHC), a list of 16 nominees has been submitted to the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), it was reported on Monday.

According to details, the nominations were submitted under Clause 23 of Article 175A of the Constitution for appointments to additional judges’ posts.

Judicial Commission member Farooq H Naek forwarded the list to the JCP secretary through a formal letter.

The list was submitted for consideration against six vacancies in the Sindh High Court and includes both district and sessions judges as well as practising lawyers.

Among the proposed candidates are Dr Ambreen, District and Sessions Judge Karachi West, and Sessions Judge Hyderabad Ghulam Shah.

The nominations also include Barrister Jamshed Malik, Barrister Baloch Ahmed Junejo, Barrister Sandeep Malani and Advocate Zulfiqar Jalbani.

Other nominees named in the list are Nasrullah Korai, Dr Shahnawaz Memon, Samiullah Soomro, Ali Raza Khan, Mukesh Kumar G Karara, Ali Gul Abbasi, Muhammad Rashid Khan Mehr, Shazia Hanjra, Mohsin Shahwani and Qazi Bashir.

According to the details provided, Shazia Hanjra, Mohsin Shahwani and Qazi Bashir are currently serving as government law officers. Shazia Hanjra is also serving as a Deputy Attorney General and is the spouse of serving judge Adnan Karim.
