*The Greatest’ trailer revives Muhammad Ali’s legendary journey

Prime Video has unveiled the much-awaited trailer for The Greatest, a new limited series produced by Michael B. Jordan finally giving audiences their first proper look at the story of boxing icon Muhammad Ali. The reveal has already stirred excitement across social media, with fans eager to see how the show will bring one of sport’s most towering figures back to the screen.

Jordan, the 39-year-old actor and filmmaker, serves as executive producer on the project, which was created by Ben Watkins. The series has been billed as a tribute to Ali’s remarkable legacy, one that continues to shape culture and sport nearly a decade after his death. Ali died in 2016 at age 74, with septic shock cited as the cause.
What sets this project apart from earlier attempts to dramatize Ali’s life is its status as the first fully authorized scripted adaptation of his story. The involvement of Lonnie Ali, the boxer’s widow, adds considerable weight to that distinction. She joins Jordan as an executive producer, ensuring the series carries the insight of Ali’s own family.
Per the show’s official description, The Greatest is not aimed at simply replaying Ali’s greatest hits in the ring. Instead, the narrative promises to dig into the man behind the gloves: his inner battles, the convictions that shaped his worldview, and the long road that carried him from promising young fighter to a figure recognized the world over.
Leading the cast is Jaalen Best, who takes on the role of a young Cassius Clay, the name Ali was born with before his transformation into Muhammad Ali. Rounding out the ensemble are Giovanni Ribisi, Omari Hardwick, Dana Gourrier, Kai Parham, and Amin Joseph, each stepping into key roles tied to different chapters of Ali’s story.
Series creator, Ben Watkins, has promised that the show will surface plenty of moments from Ali’s life that have rarely, if ever, been shown on screen before. It is a detail likely to intrigue longtime fans as much as newcomers to his story.
Structurally, the first season is bookended by two major milestones: it opens with Ali’s gold medal triumph at the 1960 Olympics and closes with his first heavyweight title win in 1964, tracking his evolution from a young Olympic hopeful named Cassius Clay into a boxing legend known the world over. Audiences will not have to wait too long to see it unfold, with the series set to premiere on Prime Video on *Wednesday, November 4, 2026* .
Notably, this trailer drop comes not long after Jordan hit a major career high of his own, winning his first Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, at the 98th Academy Awards, held on March 15, 2026, adding extra momentum to this next chapter of his career.
