CM Maryam holds talks with Portuguese envoy in Lahore

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz held a detailed meeting with Portugal’s ambassador ulo Miguel Guedes Domingues in Lahore, it was reported on Monday.

During the meeting, Portugal’s ambassador thanked Maryam Nawaz for extending full hospitality to him especially delicious dishes.

Both dignitaries held a detailed discussion covering trade, agriculture, and livestock sectors. Portugal’s Ambassador appreciated the constructive role played by Pakistan in decreasing the tensions between the United States and Iran.

On this occasion, Maryam Nawaz invited Portuguese investors to take advantage of investment opportunities in Pakistan.

Maryam Nawaz stressed the need to strengthen diplomatic and trade relations between the two countries.

The Portuguese Ambassador also invited Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to visit Portugal.

There is room to further expand the long-standing bilateral relations between Pakistan and Portugal

Opportunities exist for cooperation between Portugal and Punjab in the pharmaceutical sector, energy, water resources, healthcare, and digital innovation.

The Portuguese Ambassador commended Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for establishing the first public cancer hospital and for the record-breaking work undertaken in the province’s health sector.

Maryam Nawaz said that a large number of young people in Pakistan are fans of footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.

People-to-people ties can be strengthened by promoting Portuguese culture, heritage, language, and academic exchanges

There is scope to promote tourism, cultural exchanges, and mutual understanding between the two countries.

Relations between Pakistan and Portugal will advance enduring ties through institutional cooperation.

She said that “I acknowledge Pakistan’s diplomatic role in promoting lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
