Lahore Police arrests nearly 4,000 suspects in crackdown on illegal weapons

Lahore Police has intensified its crackdown against illegal weapons, public display of arms, and aerial firing across the city, it was reported on Monday.

According to a Lahore Police spokesperson, 3,960 suspects involved in possessing illegal weapons have been arrested so far this year, while 3,953 cases have been registered.

The spokesperson further said that 171 suspects involved in aerial firing were arrested and 136 cases were registered. In addition, 20 individuals were taken into custody for displaying weapons in public, with 17 cases filed against them.

CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana said the police are actively working to eliminate illegal weapons from the city, adding that there is a zero-tolerance policy against illegal arms, public display of weapons, and aerial firing.

He also directed authorities to continue indiscriminate action against the “Dala culture”, public display of weapons, and vehicles fitted with tinted windows.
