Joint task force to examine legal status of call centres across Pakistan

The federal government has decided to establish a joint task force (JTF) to examine networks of call centres across the country, it was reported on Monday.

According to details, officials from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and other relevant government offices will be part of the task force.

Director NCCIA Ali Waseem said that the joint task force will review the establishment of call centres, their registration, and other legal matters related to them.

A joint strategy will be adopted to take strict action against those call centres that were involved in illegal activities.

Nowadays, a consultation process is under way regarding the formation of the task force, and its terms of reference (TORs) are also being finalized.

The government is also considering enhancing inter-agency cooperation to monitor the call centre network and prevent potential illegal activities.
