Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has rejected rigging allegations levelled by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Azad Kashmir general elections.
In a statement issued on Monday, senior PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah decried rigging attempts in Kotli’s LA-10 constituency where he called for halting the voting process until the matter is sorted.
He demanded that the relevant presiding officer and the Patwari should be investigated after polling bags were caught outside the polling station. “We will not accept outcome of voting from this constituency until an inquiry is ordered to know the facts,” he added.
Rana Sana urged Azad Kashmir prime minister and chief election commissioner to launch an inquiry into the incident as they want free, fair and transparent elections.
In reaction, PPP’s Nadeem Afzal Chan rejected Rana Sanaullah’s statement.
Chan also called for free, fair and transparent elections, warning the federal government or its machinery to refrain from any kind of interference in Azad Kashmir election.
