Despite ongoing heavy monsoon rains, temperatures are expected to remain higher than normal during August and September, said the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Tuesday.
The authority has forecast that Pakistan will continue to experience above-average heat levels during the coming months.
NDMA Technical Expert Dr Tayyab, while speaking exclusively to 24News TV channel, said that the current spell of monsoon rains will continue until August 6.
He added that more heavy rainfall is expected in different parts of the country, particularly in northern regions afterwards.
Dr Tayyab said that although intense rainfall is likely, there is currently no major flood threat. He added that all major rivers are flowing within their safe limits, while the situation is being closely monitored by relevant authorities.
He said that the upstream areas of Mangla are currently witnessing low-level flooding, while monitoring is also underway in the upper catchment areas of the Chenab River, including Chenab, Rajouri, and Pathankot regions.
The NDMA expert further stated that rainfall activity will continue even after the current spell ends, with more showers expected in different parts of the country.
Dr. Tayyab emphasized that while monsoon rains may provide temporary relief from the heat, the overall temperature pattern for August and September is expected to remain above normal.
He advised continued monitoring of weather developments as rainfall intensity may vary across regions.
